Lamanai is a Mayan archaeological located in the Orange Walk district, Northern Belize. It rests in tranquillity in the jungle on the banks of the New River Lagoon, a river with numerous crocodiles. Lamanai translated from Maya to English means submerged crocodile.

This historical landmark was once a major Mayan city acting as a ceremonial and a trade center with its largest temple (The High Temple) standing at 108 feet (33 m) above the plaza level. The Jaguar Temple and Mask Temple are other significant temples on site. Numerous carvings with profound meaning can be sited throughout the entire site mostly visible on the Mask Temple. Lamanai has much more to offer other than its temple, such as its river banks and jungle bursting with wild life. Tombs of high status mayas are positioned high on the maya ruins.

We take a 45 minutes drive by road and then we take a boat ride for 25 miles along the river where you will have a chance to see crocodiles, manatees and birds. We stop along the way for any animal that Mother Nature provides for us. Once at the Lamanai site, we walk about the site for about 40 minutes in a circle and have lunch, then head back to the city.

For cruise ship passengers, the tour departs from the Tourism Village at Terminal 1 in Belize City at the dock where the cruise ship tender boat drops off their passengers. A representative from D King Adventure Tours will be there waiting for you with a sign with your name on it.
